Is Rosa Desktop Fresh R1 included PAE ???

I just installed my new rams and i wanna be sure that it is ok with my system as it is 32 bit...

А как включить поддержку PAE/ выбрать ядро с PAE установив все пакеты?

Нашёл несколько рецептов (пр. http://unixblog.in.ua/ram-больше-4гб-на ... ernel-pae/), но они для других дистрибутивов и не подходят.

In order to install this kernel you have to install 'kernel-nrj-laptop-pae-latest' then reboot. The most recently installed kernel becomes the default kernel to boot. After reboot run XFdrake and install again NVidia/ATI drivers if needed then reboot again. That's it.

If you need to use proprietary video drivers like Ati and/or Nvidia, Virtualization soft like VirtualBox or VMWare, or other soft needing rebuild their modules, you ever need to install also the -devel packages, so you must add another metapackage to your install, otherwise you can't use XFdrake properly...


so, for your desktop PC

• kernel-nrj-desktop-pae-devel-latest
• kernel-nrj-desktop-pae-latest

Each of those metapackages will call with them and install the most recent PAE flavour kernel available in the repository




For the most recent Kernel 3.10 available, that now is 3.10.12, even if not QA tested like 3.10.9 has been, you can add the specific Kernel 3.10 repo, with which you can always stay updated with mainstream lts 3.10

Examples for ROSA Fresh:

for ROSA Fresh i586 (for PAE and others...)

i tried 2 times but not installing neither on software manager nor console....

and also i saw i have a very old kernel, which is not even seen on updates... what can be wrong?

And a long update needed... i saw.. making update then will try pae again...

With latest fully update (by the way i fixed an update problem, software medias) then installing all "pae" packages as in the picture you sent, it is working great.

The most recent version is longterm Kernel 3.10.17:
if you installed the kernel 3.10 repo as I suggested, in the example, you should have this version

No, i installed from the software center choosing 4 packages.
-kernel-nrj-desktop-pae-3.10.9-1rosa
-kernel-nrj-desktop-pae-devel-3.10.9-1rosa
-kernel-nrj-desktop-pae-devel-latest
-kernel-nrj-desktop-pae-latest

i choosed these and installed. this solved pae problem, ram is showing 4gb now. But if you offer me that what i should do in this case now? And for sure i would like to have latest kernel....

If you add the repository called "Kernel_3.10", you can receive all the most recent kernel versions, now is 3.10.17, soon will be 3.10.18, and so on...
on average, every week, a new kernel version, with few new drivers and some fixes, is released. - occasionally remove older versions, no longer used!
