Software Manager frontend bug

Options about cleaning downloaded packages after they get installed and list orphaned packages after package removal are unreliable. Sometimes the options get reset each new launch of the front-end back to be unchecked. This make me wonder if they really worked or not. Where is the location of download packages cache so I could check if they are really cleaned or not?

Thanks. Is there any command to clean it for me like apt clean on Debian? Is it safe for me to just delete it manually?

After successfully installing the packages, the system itself should clear the directories

So the options on Software Manager frontend just does nothing? If these checkboxes are useless then I will not care about them any further.
