Krandrtray does not rescale desktop

Since the last update Krandrtray only works correctly at the highest (default) resolution, which for me is 1920x1080 -- virtually unusable. If I select any other setting I do get the lower resolution, but the desktop does not rescale as it used to, and therefore I only get to see the upper left portion of the desktop.

I have a continuously updated:

When I run Krandrtray from the console I get these (normal?) messages:

And my new monitor has both VGA and HDMI connected.

How can I lower the screen resolution to a usable level?
