Device Notifier can no longer mount removable media
Device Notifier can no longer mount removable media
I suspect a software update, maybe udisks2? Recently, when I plug a usb key, external hdd, insert a video dvd or data disk and choose one of the handlers in Device Notifier, it does not work, and an error about "Could not mount device" is displayed.
Re: Device Notifier can no longer mount removable media
I've found that starting os-prober when the usb device is plugged in allows me to open the device with file manager in Device Notifier.
Ordinarily, there is no /run/os-prober. There is /run but no /os-prober under it. If I install a kernel, run grub-customizer, or do update-grub2 with the device plugged in, I see that os-prober/dev is created and the usb device is represented. It can be opened in Device Notifier with file manager. I can't eject it with Device Notifier, however. I have to umount as root. If os-prober/dev/ is created in this way and the usb key inserted after, it can't be mounted by Device Notifier.
