Failures to boot Windows on the UEFI systems with dual boot after recent updates

Сообщение euspectre » 06 сен 2018, 22:23

Updates for efivar and efibootmgr were published a few days ago. Unfortunately, they were found to cause problems for the UEFI systems with dual-boot ROSA+Windows. As a result, the items for Windows could disappear from the boot menu after update-grub2, installing a kernel update, etc.

The problem affects UEFI systems only. The cause was a small change in the output format of 'efibootmgr -v'. That command was used by GRUB to populate the boot menu.

We have reverted efivar and efibootmgr back to their previously working versions, 0.15 and 0.11, respectively. They will be updated along with GRUB in the future to maintain consistency and avoid such issues.

If you have a UEFI system with dual-boot ROSA+Windows and you have already updated efibootmgr to v16, it is recommended to run the software update again, or, at least run "urpmi efibootmgr efivar". After that, please execute update-grub2.
